Magnetic Button Interactions

Concept

Exploring how magnetic cursor effects can make simple buttons feel more playful and engaging. The buttons respond to cursor proximity with subtle pull animations that create a sense of physicality.

Process

Built using Framer Motion's spring animations combined with mouse position tracking. Experimented with different spring stiffness and damping values to find the sweet spot between responsive and natural feeling.

Learnings

• Spring physics feel more natural than easing functions for cursor interactions
• Subtle effects (5-10px movement) feel polished; larger movements feel gimmicky
• Performance requires throttling mouse events on mobile devices
